The village of Owermoigne is situated on the A352 between Dorchester and Wool about 10km SE of Dorchester and 3km North of the coast at Ringstead Bay. Owermoigne village is described as Nether Moynton in the fictional Wessex of Thomas Hardy‘s novels[ and his short story The Distracted Preacher in Wessex Tales takes place in the village.

At the centre of the Village is St. Michael’s church. The Tower dates back to the 15th century with much of the remainder being rebuilt in 1883.
